Calculate fence length: Planning the property boundary

Calculate the required fence length for your property:

  • Rectangular plot: 2 × (length + width)
  • With gate opening: Take deductions into account
  • Number of posts: Fence length / post spacing + 1
  • Post spacing: Standard 2-3 meters
  • Material requirements: Posts, crossbars, fence panels

Example: 20m × 15m plot, 1× gate 3m: Fence length = (2×20 + 2×15) - 3 = 67 meters. Posts at 2.5m distance: 67 / 2.5 + 1 = 27.8 → 28 posts.

Fence types:

  • Mesh wire fence: Inexpensive, simple
  • Wood fence: 15-40 €/m
  • Metal fence: 30-80 €/m
  • Gabion fence: 80-150 €/m

Tip: Measure property boundaries accurately. Neighbor approval for border buildings. Check the development plan (height!).
