Converting volume flow units for gases

Volume flows of gases are specified internationally in different units. Our quick converter supports:

  • Nl/min → Nl/h: Standard liters per minute in per hour
  • Nm³/h → Nl/min: Convert cubic meters to liters
  • Between all combinations: Direct conversion
  • Flow meter specs: Understanding data sheets
  • Recipes & Processes: Standardize different source formats

Conversion factors:

  • 1 Nm³/h = 1000 Nl/h = 16.67 Nl/min
  • 1 Nl/min = 0.06 Nl/h = 0.00006 Nm³/h
  • 1 Nm³/min = 1000 Nl/min = 60 Nm³/h

Important: All specifications refer to standard conditions (0°C, 1013 mbar). Actual flow rates under operating conditions are different! Mass flow controllers (MFC) regulate to standard conditions, regardless of the actual pressure/temperature.

Practical tip: Pay close attention to the unit in offers and data sheets! 10 Nm³/h sounds like 10 m³/h, but at 10 bar operating pressure it is only 1 m³/h actual flow rate. Misunderstandings can lead to incorrect dimensioning. Always use standard conditions as a reference!
