Calculate tile requirements: Number of tiles with offcuts
Calculate how many tiles you need for your project - with offcuts and package calculation:
- Area calculation: Length × width in m²
- Tile size: e.g. 30×30cm, 60×60cm, 30×60cm
- Cuts: 5-15% depending on the installation method
- Package conversion: How many packages to buy ?
- Special surfaces: stairs, niches, slopes
Cutting factors:
- Even dressing: 5% waste
- Diagonal laying: 10-15% waste
- Small-part tiles: +5%
- Angled rooms: +10%
Example: Bathroom 6m², tile 30×30cm (0.09m²), diagonal laying: 6 m² × 1.15 (offcut) = 6.9m². Tiles: 6.9 / 0.09 = 76.7 → 77 tiles. At 10 pieces/package = 8 packages.
Tip: Keep 10% in reserve for later repairs. Buy the same batch (color differences!).
