Convert baking temperature: Convection, top/bottom heat, gas
Convert baking temperatures between convection, top/bottom heat and gas levels:
- Convection: 20°C less than top/bottom heat
- Top/bottom heat: Standard specification
- Gas hob: levels 1-8 (approx. 140-270°C)
- Fan symbol: = convection/hot air
Conversion table:
- 160°C circulating air = 180°C O/U = gas 2
- 180°C circulating air = 200°C O/U = gas 3-4
- 200°C circulating air = 220°C O/U = gas 4-5
- 220°C circulating air = 240°C O/U = gas 5-6
Gas levels (approx.):
- Level 1: 140°C (very low)
- Level 2: 160°C (low)
- Level 3: 180°C (moderate)
- Level 4: 200°C (medium)
- Level 5: 220°C (hot)
- Level 6: 240°C (very hot)
Convection air advantages: Even heat, several trays at the same time, saves energy. Disadvantage: dries out more (OK for cakes, top/bottom heat is better for roasts).
