This calculator sizes a PV home battery on a purely technical basis. From the daily energy to be covered by the battery, the depth of discharge (DoD) and the round-trip efficiency it derives:
- Nominal capacity = demand / DoD
- Charge energy = demand / efficiency (round-trip losses)
- Recommended charge/inverter power = nominal capacity × C-rate
Defaults: DoD 90 % and efficiency 90 % apply to LiFePO4 batteries; one full cycle per day is assumed. Economics (payback, savings) are deliberately not part of this technical tool.
