Calculate the CO2 footprint of your trip
Calculate the CO2 emissions of different means of transportation and offset your emissions:
- Car: 150-200 g CO2/km (petrol/diesel)
- E-car: 50-100 g/km (depending on electricity mix)
- Train (long-distance transport): 40 g/km
- Bus (long-distance bus): 30 g/km
- Aircraft (short-haul): 230 g/km
- Aircraft (long-haul): 180 g/km
Example: Berlin → Munich (600 km):
- Car: 120 kg CO2
- Train: 24 kg CO2 (5x less!)
- Flight: 138 kg CO2
Compensation: Compensating for 1 ton of CO2 costs around €20-30. Via organizations such as atmosfair, myclimate.
Faustformel: Train/bus the most climate-friendly. Airplane worst (especially short-haul). Carpooling improves car balance!
